Now it is very popular to be a Ladyboy in Thailand. It is like a fashion statement to have been with a Ladyboy. The Japanese is otherwise the big consumers of Ladyboys but they would never be seen on the street with one and Japanese guys always big from the big Cabaret in Pattaya or Bangkok.
You can also see on Craigslist that most adverts for services are with Ladyboys I guess a trend Thai girls have to live with for a while.
